The nights have started drawing in, the leaves have turned orange and there is a chill in the air, Autumn is here, and Winter is on the way. During the Winter months, we buy ourselves new coats, cosy pairs of slippers and treats to make the cold days a little more bearable. But what about our precious pups, surely they deserve a treat too?
If you are the parent to a pampered pooch, you will no doubt want to spoil them this winter. When the weather is cold and your dog is stuck inside, instead of being able to run around in the sunshine, life can get boring for them. That’s why treating them to a few little bits now and then is a great idea for making life more fun.
Want to spoil your pooch this Winter? Here are a few ideas that could come in handy:
Buy her a cozy new bed
Just like we get cold in the winter, so do our furry friends. When the weather is cold, your puppy needs somewhere cozy to curl up in, like a new memory foam dog bed. If your pup already has a lovely bed, why not buy him a second one to go in another room in the house? He'll love you for it.
As well as getting your dog a new bed, it’s a good idea to treat him to a blanket as well. You may not realize it, but just like we get cold at night, so do our dogs. That’s why, when it comes to the Winter, every dog needs a blanket to snuggle under.
Get your pup lots of toys
Being cooped up inside all day because of the bad weather is no fun for your pup. However, by buying him a few different toys to keep him occupied, you can make life more enjoyable for him.
There are lots of dog toys to choose from, but some of the best ones are Kong toys. These are treat toys that are ideal for keeping your dog busy while stuck in the house all day.
Buy him a new coat
If you haven’t got a coat for your dog, it might be a good idea to consider buying one. Even when the weather is freezing, your dog will still need to be walked twice a day. If you take your pup out without a coat on he could get cold and become unwell, which is why if he doesn’t have a coat, you should treat him to one.
Make dog treats
Instead of buying regular dog treats, why not spoil your pooch and make them yourself? Believe it or not, homemade dog treats are not only incredibly easy to make, but they are also much better for your dog, as they don’t contain any nasties. You get to decide what goes in them, and can flavor them however you like.
If you want to spoil your dog this Winter there are lots of ways that you can go about it. The ideas above are just a couple of suggestions; there are also lots of other things you could try.
